Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP)
The Security Certified Program offers two IT security certification tracks. The Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP) certification tests a candidate's knowledge of defensive security strategies. The Security Certified Network Architect (SCNA) certification tests a candidate's knowledge of building of trusted networks.
The SCNP program will focus on the two critical areas of security that are the foundational defense of networks: Firewalls and Intrusion Detection. The up-to-date security lessons and the hands-on labs bring the security networking world to the candidates.
The SCNP program is divided into two exams, which have corresponding courses, the first being Hardening The Infrastructure (HTI) and the second being Network Defense and Countermeasures (NDC) . Please check the respective pages for further details about each exam.
The exams, as a whole, are designed to validate the foundational skills required by security professionals. These skills include, but are not limited to: Intrusion Detection Systems Design and Implementation, Network Traffic Signatures, Security Policy, Risk Analysis, Firewall Design and
Implementation. Router Security, Operating System Security, Advanced Knowledge of the TCP suite,
and Network Security Basics.
Prerequisite for this certification is Security+ or equivalent experience. For further information on the Security+ program, visit the CompTIA website .
